Terms of Service
WageSense Does Not Provide Tax or Financial Advice
WageSense is a pay estimation tool. All earnings calculations and tax estimates displayed in the app are approximations based on publicly available standard tax bracket data. They are not a substitute for your payslip, your employer's payroll calculation, or advice from a qualified accountant or tax advisor.
WageSense's estimates do not account for:
- Your individual tax code (UK) or withholding elections (US W-4 / CA TD1).
- Personal allowances beyond standard published rates (e.g. Marriage Allowance, Blind Person's Allowance, personal tax credits).
- Student loan repayments (Plan 1, Plan 2, Plan 4, Plan 5 in the UK; provincial or federal student loan deductions in Canada).
- Pension contributions — whether employer-mandated, auto-enrolled, or voluntary (Workplace Pension / Auto Enrolment in the UK, 401(k) or RRSP in North America, Superannuation in Australia).
- Employer-specific pay arrangements, local collective agreements, or enterprise bargaining agreements.
- Benefit-in-kind taxation, salary sacrifice arrangements, or any other arrangement that affects your taxable pay.
- Underpayment or overpayment of tax from prior periods.
- State or provincial income taxes (beyond those explicitly modelled for supported jurisdictions).
Your payslip from your employer is always the authoritative record of your earnings and deductions. If there is a discrepancy between what WageSense estimates and what appears on your payslip, your payslip is correct. Please consult your employer or a qualified accountant if you have questions about your deductions.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, or using the WageSense mobile application (the "App") or
the WageSense website at wagesense.app (the "Site"), you agree to be
bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not
use the App or Site.
These Terms form a legally binding agreement between you and RoutineLabs / Saurabh Srivastava ("RoutineLabs", "we", "us", or "our"), the developer and operator of WageSense. These Terms apply in addition to any terms imposed by the platform through which you downloaded the App (Apple App Store or Google Play Store).
By using WageSense, you represent and warrant that you are at least 13 years of age (or 16 years of age if you are located in the European Union or United Kingdom), and that you have the legal capacity to enter into this agreement.
2. Description of Service
WageSense is a Shift Tracker and Pay Ledger — a mobile application designed to help shift workers calculate their approximate gross and estimated net earnings based on shift hours, shift type, and publicly available tax bracket information for supported jurisdictions.
The App provides two core features:
- Shift Tracker (Calculator): Calculates estimated gross and net pay for a shift based on inputs you provide — base hourly rate, shift duration, shift type, and multiplier configuration.
- Pay Ledger: A chronological record of shifts you have logged, stored locally on your device in an encrypted database.
An optional cloud sync and cross-device backup feature is available to users who create an account. Account creation is not required to use the core calculator and ledger features.
We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the App or any feature at any time. We will provide reasonable notice of material changes where practicable.
3. User Account Responsibilities
If you choose to create an account:
- You must provide a valid email address. We do not collect any other identity information.
- You are responsible for maintaining the security of your device and email account. We authenticate via email magic link; access to your email inbox constitutes access to your WageSense account.
- You must not share your authentication link or allow any other person to access your account.
- You must notify us immediately at support@wagesense.app if you believe your account has been compromised.
- You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
- You must not create more than one account per person. Creating duplicate accounts (for example, to obtain more than one founding member benefit) is prohibited.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if we have reason to believe it has been used fraudulently, in violation of these Terms, or in a manner harmful to other users or to RoutineLabs.
4. Prohibited Uses
You must not use WageSense to:
- Violate any applicable local, national, or international law or regulation.
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, disassemble, or attempt to derive the source code of the App, except to the extent expressly permitted by applicable law.
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to any portion of the App's backend infrastructure, databases, or user data.
- Use the App in any manner intended to circumvent or bypass Supabase Row Level Security policies, including by direct API calls using the application's anon key to access other users' data.
- Scrape, harvest, or systematically extract data from the App or its API endpoints in an automated fashion.
- Use the App to store, transmit, or process data on behalf of third parties for commercial gain without our express written consent.
- Introduce any malware, virus, or other malicious code into the App or its associated services.
- Use the App in any way that could damage, disable, overburden, or impair our servers or infrastructure.
- Create a false or misleading impression about your earnings for the purpose of fraud, misrepresentation to a financial institution or government body, or benefits manipulation.
5. Intellectual Property
WageSense — including its source code, design, visual identity, written content, trade name, and all associated intellectual property — is owned by RoutineLabs / Saurabh Srivastava and is protected by copyright, trade mark, and other applicable intellectual property laws.
Subject to your compliance with these Terms, RoutineLabs grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use the App on your personal device solely for your own personal, non-commercial purposes.
You retain full ownership of all shift data and information you enter into the App. By using the cloud sync feature, you grant RoutineLabs a limited licence to store and process that data on your behalf solely for the purpose of providing the sync service to you. We do not claim any ownership right over your shift data.
No part of WageSense may be copied, reproduced, distributed, or used to create derivative works without our prior written consent, except to the extent required by applicable law or open-source licences governing third-party components used in the App.
6. Disclaimer of Warranties
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, WAGESENSE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. RoutineLabs expressly disclaims all warranties, including but not limited to:
- Any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.
- Any warranty that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses or other harmful components.
- Any warranty as to the accuracy, completeness, timeliness, or reliability of any calculations, tax estimates, or pay projections produced by the App.
Tax Calculation Disclaimer — Expanded
Tax bracket data embedded in the App is based on publicly available information at the time of each App release. Tax legislation changes frequently and the data in any given App version may not reflect the current tax year's rates. You acknowledge and agree that:
- All tax estimates are based on standard published rate bands and do not reflect your individual tax position.
- WageSense's calculations are not, and are not intended to be, a substitute for advice from your employer's payroll department or a qualified tax professional.
- Reliance on WageSense's estimates for the purpose of making financial decisions — including negotiating employment terms, applying for credit, or filing a tax return — is done entirely at your own risk.
- RoutineLabs is not responsible for any financial loss, underpayment of tax, or other adverse consequence arising from your reliance on estimates produced by the App.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any statutory warranty or guarantee that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable consumer protection law (including the Consumer Rights Act 2015 in the UK, consumer guarantees under Australian Consumer Law, and equivalent protections in other jurisdictions).
7. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW:
- RoutineLabs shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages arising out of or in connection with your use of or inability to use WageSense, including but not limited to: loss of income, loss of earnings, financial loss, or reliance on inaccurate tax estimates.
- RoutineLabs's total aggregate liability to you for any claim arising out of or in connection with these Terms or the use of WageSense, whether in contract, tort (including negligence), or otherwise, shall not exceed the greater of: (a) the amount you paid to RoutineLabs in the twelve months preceding the event giving rise to the claim; or (b) £50 (fifty pounds sterling).
Nothing in these Terms shall limit or exclude RoutineLabs's liability for:
- Death or personal injury caused by our negligence.
- Fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.
- Any other matter in respect of which liability cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law.
If you are a consumer in the EU, UK, Australia, or Canada, your statutory consumer rights are not affected by this limitation. This clause does not deprive you of any consumer protection right that cannot be waived under your local law.
8. Indemnification
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless RoutineLabs, its officers, employees, and agents from and against any claims, damages, obligations, losses, liabilities, costs, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from:
- Your use of WageSense in violation of these Terms.
- Your violation of any applicable law or regulation.
- Your infringement of any third-party right, including intellectual property rights.
- Any data you submit to the App that infringes the rights of a third party or violates any law.
9. Termination
By you: You may stop using WageSense at any time. If you have an account, you may delete it via Settings → Privacy → Delete My Account, which will permanently delete all your data from our servers.
By us: We may suspend or terminate your access to WageSense at any time if we believe you have breached these Terms, in our sole discretion, with or without prior notice. We will endeavour to give reasonable notice where practicable, unless immediate termination is necessary to protect the App, other users, or third parties.
Upon termination, your licence to use the App ceases immediately. The following provisions survive termination: §5 (Intellectual Property), §6 (Disclaimer of Warranties), §7 (Limitation of Liability), §8 (Indemnification), §10 (Governing Law), and §11 (Dispute Resolution).
We are not liable to you or any third party for any termination of your access to WageSense, except where such liability arises under mandatory consumer protection law applicable in your jurisdiction.
10. Governing Law
These Terms and any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with them (including non-contractual disputes) are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales, except where:
- EU residents: Mandatory consumer protection laws of your member state apply and cannot be excluded by choice of law. Nothing in this clause deprives EU consumers of protections available under their local law.
- California residents: To the extent California law mandates the application of California law, that law shall apply to the relevant provision.
- Australian residents: The Australian Consumer Law (Schedule 2 of the Competition and Consumer Act 2010) applies and cannot be excluded.
- Canadian residents: Applicable provincial consumer protection legislation may impose additional rights that cannot be waived.
11. Dispute Resolution
Step 1 — Informal Resolution
If you have a dispute with RoutineLabs, please contact us first at support@wagesense.app and describe your concern. We will make a genuine effort to resolve the issue informally within 30 calendar days of receiving your written description of the dispute.
Step 2 — Formal Resolution
If we cannot resolve the dispute informally within 30 days, either party may bring a claim before the courts of England and Wales, which shall have exclusive jurisdiction to settle any dispute or claim arising out of or in connection with these Terms.
EU Consumer Carve-Out
UK Consumer Note
UK consumers may also refer unresolved complaints to the Citizens Advice Bureau or applicable alternative dispute resolution (ADR) schemes. This does not affect your right to bring a claim in the courts of England and Wales.
Class Action Waiver
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, you agree that any dispute resolution proceeding will be conducted only on an individual basis and not in a class, consolidated, or representative action. This waiver is not applicable to the extent prohibited by law (including in California, where PAGA and class action rights for consumers cannot be waived).
12. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by:
- Displaying a notice within the App; and
- Updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
For significant changes that affect authenticated users, we may also send notice to your registered email address. Your continued use of WageSense after the effective date of any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.
If you do not agree to the updated Terms, you must stop using WageSense and, if you have an account, delete it before the effective date.
